The Birmingham Community Safety Partnership approached us to redesign their existing site which was receiving poor navigational feedback and had become impractical for the Partnership to administer themselves.

The main aim for the site was to breathe new life into it and ensure it was fast, very easy to navigate and mobile friendly, something the old site wasn’t. The design and ongoing daily use needed to work without the requirement for imagery and highlight the Community Trigger, the latest initiative tackling Anti Social Behaviour in Birmingham.

The branding was to remain, so we worked with the partnership to take the existing two colour blue and grey colour scheme and build into it, accent colours to help highlight key focus areas within the site that were points of engagement for users.

The new site uses a light open design to welcome visitors to the BCSP (Birmingham Community Safety Partnership), the introduction of server based web fonts has been introduced to help develop the brand and maintain it’s consistency across devices along with new colour accents. Larger font sizes and multiple areas for users to quickly access all key content make it quick and easy to use.

We also worked with the partnership to introduce all of Google’s key apps, ranging from Google+, Webmaster Tools and Analytics in order to allow them to better understand the best strategy for development of the site as it grows, providing the partnership the ability to make more informed decisions on how to improve the site going forward.

Now fully responsive for all devices it also gives the site the greatest usability for both the public and council staff alike.

The partnership has a large remit and the site needs to convey all it’s key communications. The BCSP brings together public sector agencies to work together to create a safer Birmingham and to tackle the difficult problems that affect communities.

They deal with a wide range of issues such as reducing crime and anti-social behaviour, providing support for people experiencing domestic violence, protecting homes from burglary and dealing with nuisance neighbours.

By working together with other local organisations, they aim to make our neighbourhoods even safer and reduce the fear of crime.

Since the site's lauch there has been a increase of nearly 300% in visitors with a huge 2,600% increase in mobile users.

The feedback on the new site has only been positive and we are very excited to continue to support the BCSP in the future.
