Dropping litter is a problem every city in the UK and across the globe faces, so how do you tackle it? A conscientious member of the public will seek out a bin and hold onto the item till they find one rather than just drop it, so clearly they aren’t the target audience, here the target audience is the offenders, the people who don’t care and feel it’s someone else’s problem.
So how do you get through to them, well Live Green Toronto have taken the approach of making fun of them and pointing out how stupid and pathetic they’re being. Using common packaging from snacks, sweets and drinks they combined the brand names to make up words that literally spell out what they think of them.
The ads are eye catching and clever and take a refreshing approach to deliver the message, the punch line for every poster says ‘Littering says a lot about you!’
I like ‘Low Life’ the most but have a very close affection for ‘Dip Stick’ but that could just be because I love only Fools and Horses :)
What do you think of the campaign is this kind of approach a good way to tackle this issue or do you think there is a better way? Pop your thoughts in the comments box below.
